Global Cosmetic Procedure Pricing Report 2026

Glow Journal’s annual pricing report compiles self-reported clinic pricing, patient-reported costs, and published fee schedules across 25 cities in 18 countries. This is the most comprehensive publicly available comparison of cosmetic procedure costs for 2026.

Key Findings

  1. The United States remains the most expensive market for nearly every surgical procedure, with New York and Los Angeles averaging 2.5-4x the cost of comparable procedures in Bangkok or Istanbul.
  2. South Korea has narrowed the gap with Western markets for rhinoplasty, now averaging USD 5,800-8,200 — a 12% increase since 2024.
  3. Turkey continues to dominate the value segment for hair transplants, rhinoplasty, and dental work, though pricing has risen 18-22% due to inflation and increased demand.
  4. Non-surgical treatments (Botox, fillers, laser) show the smallest price variance globally — typically 1.5-2x between cheapest and most expensive markets.
  5. Thailand and Vietnam offer the strongest value proposition when quality-adjusted, with JCI-accredited facilities charging 60-75% less than US equivalents.

Regional Analysis

North America

The US and Canada remain the most expensive markets for elective cosmetic surgery globally. Insurance does not cover cosmetic procedures, and facility accreditation requirements (AAAHC, AAAASF) add overhead. Average surgeon fees in New York are 15-20% above the US national average. Canadian pricing is modestly lower, though the CAD/USD exchange rate narrows the gap for international comparisons.

Western Europe

London commands premium pricing in Europe, particularly along Harley Street. Germany and France offer moderate pricing but are less commonly marketed to international patients. Prague and Budapest have emerged as value alternatives within the EU, offering Western-trained surgeons at 40-50% of London pricing.

Middle East

Dubai has positioned itself as a premium medical tourism hub. Pricing sits between Western Europe and Asia. The UAE’s tax-free environment and luxury positioning attract patients from the GCC, Africa, and South Asia. Riyadh and Jeddah pricing is comparable to Dubai but with fewer internationally marketed facilities.

East Asia

South Korea dominates the Asian cosmetic surgery market in terms of volume and reputation, particularly for rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty. Seoul’s Gangnam district alone contains over 500 cosmetic surgery clinics. Pricing has increased notably since 2023, reflecting both demand and the weakening won. Japan offers high-quality work at prices comparable to Seoul but markets less aggressively to foreign patients.

Southeast Asia

Thailand and Vietnam represent the strongest value propositions globally when quality is factored in. Bangkok’s Bumrungrad International Hospital and Bangkok Hospital are JCI-accredited and handle large international patient volumes. Vietnam’s market is younger but growing rapidly, with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi developing dedicated medical tourism infrastructure.

Turkey

Istanbul has become the single highest-volume medical tourism destination for cosmetic surgery globally, driven by aggressive package pricing for hair transplants, rhinoplasty, and dental work. However, the rapid growth has raised quality control concerns — ISAPS and some national medical associations have flagged inconsistent credentialing. Patients should verify individual surgeon credentials rather than relying on clinic marketing alone.

Latin America

Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil are established cosmetic surgery destinations. Colombia is particularly known for body contouring (liposuction, BBL), while Mexico serves the US cross-border market. Brazil has the second-highest per-capita rate of cosmetic surgery globally but is less commonly accessed by non-Portuguese speakers.

How to Use This Data

This report is designed as a reference tool for patients researching cosmetic procedures internationally. For a deeper look at dental implant pricing across 15 countries or porcelain veneer costs worldwide, see our dedicated reports. Patients considering treatment abroad should also read our guide to vetting overseas clinics and our beauty tourism overview. Those exploring non-surgical options such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin or non-surgical face lifts may find significant savings even domestically. Our medical tourism growth statistics report provides additional context on patient volumes and destination trends.

When comparing costs:

  1. Factor in total trip cost. A procedure that costs $5,000 less abroad may only save $2,000-3,000 after flights, accommodation, and time off work.
  2. Verify surgeon credentials independently. Use national medical board registries, not clinic marketing materials.
  3. Check accreditation. JCI accreditation is the most widely recognized international standard. National accreditation bodies (NABH in India, HA in Thailand) are also meaningful.
  4. Read recent reviews. Pricing and quality can change rapidly. Prioritize reviews from the last 12 months.
  5. Understand what is included. Some clinics quote surgeon-only fees; others include facility, anesthesia, and follow-up. Always confirm the total cost in writing.
